Van Beek began his footballing career on a serious note at Ajax Youth Academy. However, he was first enrolled at Veensche Boys at the tender age of four. His father once revealed he was never into football that much at the beginning until the day he took him to watch a game at Ajax’s Stadium. He joined Ajax in 2005 aged only 11.

He progressed through the youth ranks and in 2014 got elevated into the senior team. Van Beek made a mere 6 appearances in his first season but progressed relatively well over the past few years to become one of Ajax’s most important players. He became such an important player for Ajax during the 2018-2019 season that he made 57 out 58 appearances for the club which put him at par only with defender Daley Blind.
